1. Braided Line Kit
A substantial increase in braking performance can be realised by replacing the original rubber brake hoses with braided lines. Due to a braided line's reduced volumetric expansion characteristic, the hydraulic pressure or 'squeeze' produced by the master cylinder, when in use, dissipates less between the master cylinder and calliper than it does with its rubber counterpart. The braided line ensures that every time the rider 'grabs a handful of brake' the resistance felt through the brake lever is linear and not prone to fade.

Normal or Twin Line Kits from £176.00 + VAT (including fitment and bleeding)

While Setup Engineering makes up braided line kits for normal and twin line application, it is in making up the Setup GP Line Kit that we specialise.

In 1996, an unforeseen accident saw Graham Ritchie lose his life at Brands Hatch on the GP Circuit when a stray knee-slider was picked up by Graham's front tyre during a race. Unfortunately, the slider was pulled between the top of the tyre and the bottom of the mudguard which lifted, tearing out the clip over brake line as it rose. When Graham went for the brakes at Westfield bend there was nothing and he exited the track at around 110 mph!

The circumstances that lead to Graham's untimely death also lead to the banning of clip-over mudguard break lines on race bikes in a competition environment. In the interests of safety and general riding standards Setup Engineering make up the Setup GP Line Kit in an attempt to avoid the reoccurrence of such an accident.

Kindly note that of the extra funds paid to Setup Engineering for the Setup GP Line Kit, £5.00 are donated in loving memory of Graham Richie to Claire Ritchie, Graham's widow.

2. JCW Shock
The JCW shock is the first all aluminium unit with 'pure' separable high and low speed adjustable compression damping. It runs 20° C cooler than the latest model OEM alloy-bodied shock and, when fully sprung, weighs between 1 and 1.5 kg less than the same*. Every JCW shock is built with a shim stack, spring and other trick componentry bespoke to rider specification.

Throughout its research and development period the JCW shock was part responsible for winning:

o World endurance racing championship back to back for S.E.R.T - Suzuki Racing Team (France) - in 2002, '03 & '04;

o British Powerbike championships with Jamie Hitter & Black Widow team in 2001 & '02.

It is important to note that throughout the testing period bikes that ran a JCW unit consistently suffered less from tyre wear than those that did not. As observed in Parc Fermé.

To find out more about the JCW Shock please feel free to speak to James directly; his contact details are displayed on the CONTACT/FIND US page found elsewhere on this site.
